God’s Story
About The Author:
Ron Abarbanel grew up as a child to immigrant Jewish parents in a Catholic school system. While religion was a huge part of his upbringing what he took away was that God was mainly interested in perfection. Guilt and shame soon developed at an early age and God was shelved until he hit university where a deep desire emerged to understand what life was all about. In the ten years that followed, Ron decided he believed in Jesus, but struggled with his moralistic upbringing (guilt and shame) and the way the Jesus story was often told by Christians so that nothing was required of them except belief. This struggle culminated in a profound experience of God that caused Ron to completely revisit his belief about what God is like.
This Bible study is the result of him completely revisiting the Biblical narrative with the emphasis being placed, not on the human experience of God, but God’s experience of His own creation. The study adds a refreshing perspective on the grace of God, what righteousness is, the death and resurrection of Christ, and the responsibility believers carry because of what they now understand as important.
It would be hard to point to a more important Bible study than this. If you are wanting to know what God is looking for, what sin is, why Jesus had to die, and why grace is so important, look no further.
